University of Glasgow hits 91.6 per cent Satisfaction Rating for International Students

91.6% Satisfaction for International Students

International students have given the University of Glasgow one of the best scores in the UK as part of the Summer 2010 International Student Barometer (ISB) survey. The survey, which is the largest of its kind, canvasses international students’ views on the teaching, services and the overall experience of their university.

The University hit a 91.6 per cent satisfaction rating – higher than the UK average of 86.9 per cent. And we are glad to see that overseas students at Glasgow are happier the longer they are here.

Glasgow was ranked as first in Scotland and in the Russell Group as a ‘good place to be’ with a rating of 96.3 per cent. Sports facilities were ranked as the best in the UK at 93.2 per cent.

Amongst the Russell Group, the University of Glasgow ranked first in the following categories: library, ‘good teachers’, technology, learning spaces, learning support, sports facilities, ‘good place to be’, social facilities, visa advice, finance office, and disability support.

The high rankings reflect a commitment to quality across the campus which is appreciated by our international students who rightly expect a first-class education and experience at Glasgow.

University of Exeter bucks the trend!

You may have seen in the news that the UK government will make a significant cut in funding to English universities in next year’s budget. Universities will receive a share of a £7.3 billion, representing a reduction of £537 million compared to the previous academic year.

However, Exeter’s grant is actually up! and by 3.7% to £66.2 million.

This is a result of Exeter’s growth and research performance, and represents the highest rise amongst all the Russell Group and 94 Group universities.

Further evidence of Exeter’s strength can be seen in the appointment of 100 new academic staff (at a time when some other institutions are considering redundancies)and our investment in an ambitious £275 million building programme for world-class new facilities.
